Over the past few months, I’ve been developing a new undergraduate course for Trent University, entitled ‘GEOG 2811 The International North and the Arctic Council’. Today that course launches with its first cohort of students—not only from Trent, but from other universities around the world that participate along with Trent in the UArctic Circumpolar Studies programme. My colleague Heather Nicol, Director of the Trent School for the Study of Canada, is teaching the course, and I’m looking forward to joining her for the capstone project—a ‘mini-Model Arctic Council‘ of the sort that I’ve run a few times before as part of other Trent courses. I’m extremely pleased to see the course underway, and I hope it will become a regular part of Trent’s undergraduate offerings.
