Michael Byers, Canada Research Chair in Global Politics and International Law at the University of British Columbia, has recently published a new book, International Law and the Arctic. In it he cites two of my articles.
First, on page 177, Byers points to my article “In the belly of the whaling commission” as an “excellent discussion” of Canada’s withdrawal from the International Whaling Commission over aboriginal whaling, and of the pressures on it to rejoin. Later, on page 241, Byers refers to the article again in a similar context.
Second, on page 221, Byers cites my article “Nunavut, Greenland and the politics of resource revenues” in his summary of Inuit efforts to achieve political self-determination.
I’m pleased that Byers found these articles useful. His book is available from Cambridge University Press.
