Yesterday, I took part in a session on ‘Innovation in Arctic education and public outreach’ at the 8th UK Arctic Science Conference in Cambridge, organised by the UK Arctic Office and the British Antarctic Survey. In my presentation, I introduced and reported on results from my Scotland Model Arctic Council (SCOTMAC) programme for undergraduate students, including both SCOTMAC 1 at the Scottish Association for Marine Science in 2022 and SCOTMAC 2 at Glasgow Caledonian University this past March. Many thanks to the Scottish-Arctic Network (ScAN) and Trent University for their collaborative partnership on SCOTMAC, and to the Scottish Government’s Arctic Connections Fund for their generous support.
A copy of our presentation slides is available for download. The panel session was sponsored by the UArctic Læra Institute for Circumpolar Education and the University of East Anglia, and I’m grateful to them and to the conference organisers for the opportunity.
